In 1936 Albertine Williams – also known as Cubby – supervised a project titled “The National Youth Administrations Writer’s Project” that took place in the southwest section of Kansas. The project was connected to the Federal Writer’s Project (part of FDR’s New Deal), and was composed of of volunteers who had an interest in writing about local history. The stories were to be put in a book titled “The American Guide” but many of theses stories were never included. Albertine’s daughter found the stories and reached out to the Cimarron Library to see if we had interest in them. You will find the articles below.
