This Day in History - February 20, 1962 - John Glenn becomes the first American to orbit the Earth. (When I first saw a museum exhibit of an actual Atlas rocket, the only thought I had was horror - we had shot him up into space on a 'firecracker' with a 'tuna can' on top of it!!!! Yes, I'm exaggerating, but not by much!!!)
